IntelliBrightness is a small, easy to use utility designed to use the camera to adjust the monitor’s brightness. This tool is particular useful for laptops. Features:
• Adjust your monitor’s brightness according to your environment.
• Monitor your children.
• Read and write data to/from your camera.
• It has a simple interface.
• The configuration file can be shared among users.

I know this is a really common one and I have seen it posted in the forums but no one has posted a ‘how to’ so I thought I would give it a go.
The problem with it is that this program seems to freeze occasionally (and the crash only happens occasionally) but the progress dialog that comes up when it freezes stays stuck on “Checking for updates…”.

I then have to ctrl+alt+delete and restart the pc to get it working again.

I’m using the latest version (1.4.6) and I have rebooted in between to no effect.

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

Bexhill is the one place that has a’million takers’, and there are many more places that could be supplied, a bit like all those places you see in the yellow pages advertising ‘one-man bands’

Moved it here in case it helps someone else too. I am using the v1.4.6. I just used the installer and it installed ok.
It just says “Checking for updates…” and then sits there. No updates available and then its ok.

I have this problem all the time. Does it say anything else?

In the past, my workaround has been to just restart the computer.
I haven’t had any problems since I started using ctrl+alt+del to restart the computer.

I tried it again this morning and I got the same problem. I just tried to start it up again (with this new installation) and it locked up my desktop – there were no crash reports or anything.

EDIT: just noticed that it said “Starting background check for updates…” when it locked up.

RunAsService Version 1.6.1
A $24.95 application created by VoidSolutions, LLC.

Check out the screenshots below or go directly to the tool’s site to grab it for your Windows computer.

And to see it in action, you can have a look at the video below.

RunAsService vs autoruns
The tool is not your alternative to the Windows autoruns applet. It is in fact a CLI tool. The autoruns applet is an executable that runs in Windows Explorer and provides the same functionality. In other words, the tool is for transforming some programs into services on Windows computers. If you need a replacement of the autoruns applet, look at my personal favorite, Autostarts.

Localized beam divergence after conventional paraxial approximation in the beam propagation equation.
The use of the conventional paraxial approximation in the beam propagation equation is shown to introduce a local change in the beam divergence. Although such an effect is typically ignored for the sake of simplicity, our study shows that a localized variation in the beam divergence can be induced. This effect is induced for high-order modes and is more pronounced in multikiloviews. For high-order modes, such an effect does not exist if the conventional paraxial approximation is replaced by a rigorous treatment of the beam propagation. Our results explain the common finding that the conventional paraxial approximation is not fully justified for high-order modes in multikiloview systems.Q:

gulp-minify doesnt minify js files. but browserify does

So, I’m trying to minify some javascript files, as they are some CSS to be injected in a webapp.
I’m using gulp-minify, with the following configuration:
