Q:

1st degree rational solutions of a system of linear equations

I am having trouble with the following problem:

Consider the system of linear equations $a_1 x_1 + a_2 x_2 + a_3 x_3 + a_4 x_4 = b_1$, $a_1 + a_2 + a_3 + a_4 = 2$ and $a_5 + a_6 + a_7 + a_8 = 2$ with complex variables $a_1, \ldots, a_8$, $b_1 \in \mathbb{R}$. Determine all real solutions for $a_1, \ldots, a_8, b_1$ and $x_1, \ldots, x_4$.

So far, I have found that $x_1 \in \mathbb{R}$ and $x_2, x_3, x_4 \in \mathbb{R}$ since the determinant of the system is positive. Furthermore, I have found that $x_1 = \frac{1}{2}$ and $x_2, x_3, x_4 \in \mathbb{R}$ since the system has at least one solution $x_1 = \frac{1}{2}$. However, this does not exclude the possibility that all four solutions are real.
