Model Checkpoints provide the ability to review the history of the drawing, quickly detect possible issues, and provide insights into your model that may otherwise be difficult to detect. They’re built on our proven Model Inspector technology, which helps you see changes in your model from one revision to another. When combined with the new Revision History tab, you can find information about the differences between revisions in the past.
Model Checkpoints can be made permanent so they’ll always appear on your drawing, regardless of whether you are on a design history page. To remove a checkpoint, right-click on it and choose “Remove”.
Updating a Model Checkpoint
To update a Model Checkpoint, use the command line or add a filter to the Show Model Checkpoint dialogue.
Command Line: modelcheckpoint [-e|-x] [objectid]
Show Model Checkpoint Dialogue (filter): Shows Model Checkpoints by name. Specify the name of the object or group you want to inspect.
Model Inspections tab: After you make a change to a drawing, you can use Model Inspector to show a list of model checkpoints associated with that drawing.
Revision History tab: After you make a change to a drawing, you can use the Revisions menu to open a list of the changes that have been made to the drawing.
Synchronizing the Model Inspector and the Revisions Menu
After you make a change to a drawing, the Model Inspector will automatically synchronize with the Revisions menu. The Revisions menu lists the revisions where the drawing was changed, and the Model Inspector updates to display a checklist of the changes made to the drawing.
If you’ve opened the Revisions menu on a drawing and you’ve made changes, the Model Inspector will display the changes you’ve made to the drawing.
Note that some model checkpoints do not appear on Revisions and you can remove them manually by clicking on the “x” on the right side of the checkpoint name.
